KISAH 47 RONIN
In the early 18th century, the shogun palace located in Edo (now Tokyo) was full of extravagant lifestyle, corruption, and parties. The merchants played an important role and the samurai started to lose their luster and influence because they hated all kind of profit-oriented action and ignorance of social norms. Amidst the changes, chaotic events often happened mostly due to an excessive amount of tax that the farmers had to pay. The climax was in 1701, when a young daimyo, Lord Asano from Ako, attacked a corrupt official in the palace. This incident triggered a series of serious conflicts and turned into the bloodiest revenge ever happening in japan. When it was all over, japan had new heroes, the 47 Ronin (former samurai) from Ako.
